The Car Care Nut

Yep, change your oil! Old bad oil turns to coal on the hot piston rings. I've been caring for my mom's corolla (2011, can't recall the engine) and change her oil religiously at 5k with synthetic. Zero consumption between changes. My whole family has been strict oil changers (we're the diy types) and we've never had internal engine issues, and don't baby our cars either. The people with the issues stretch out their oil changes, it's just catastrophic in these modern engines (i don't care what brand) there's lots of small moving parts to clog up and stick up... Throw a turbo or two on there and it's accelerated. And if you're buying a used car, peek under the oil cap, if you can see under the valve cover and it's all brown and dark at a low mileage - pass on that car. I know from experience on multiple cars that you won't get dark buildup AT ALL from regular oil changes.... All my cars are brand new looking under there.
