  1. No grocers will take on board an extra 10c per item for something that almost no customers have demanded. This also sounds like a way of producing more food waste. Who determines the threshhold? It's bad enough that people only buy perfect shaped fruit and veg, without only eating food that is 100% fresh. Our digestive systems can cope with a little bit of staleness. Also, the sensors would have to be on the INSIDE of the packaging, so that's milk and other products straight out. Never going to happen.
