Comments by "Mat Broomfield" (@matbroomfield) on "BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year: The Nominees - BBC News" video.
I don't begrudge Indian women recognition like this, but why is the British public funded, British Broadcasting Corporation doing an Indian sportswoman of the year? It seems as incongruous as Chinese fisherman of the year, or Australian ice skater of the year.

@MrKajjaGG As usual, the person telling me to "grow a brain" demonstrates his own lack of intelligence. I quote from the video description (which I bothered to read before commenting) "BBC News is launching the BBC Indian Sportswoman of The Year 2020 Award - a first of its kind initiative." or to put it another way, NOT "clearly a piece provided and produced by an Indian source and offered to the BBC for publication". It is NOT the purvue of the BBC to take taxpayer funding, much less licence fees extorted under threat of imprisonment and violence, to sponsor awards in other countries that provide no benefit to British licence payers. If this was a short news piece, or even a longer interest piece, I would have no problem. I do NOT wish Britain's news services to insular (we're not American goddammit), but I DO expect money unwillingly extorted from me to be used for things that benefit me. I await your apology.

Deshawn Terrell Every year a politician tries to get the TV licence abolished - ISTR even Bozo pretended to care recently, but how would state media survive on a level playing field?
