Yes it does. There are loads of videos from Africa and India of people getting killed trying to steal copper from live power lines, fuel from crashed tankers, and more.

@ichigodragon. No need to get defensive. I agree that America is a total shithole, but trying to claim that India is superior is delusional. America doesn't have open sewage flowing in the streets, nor do people just shit on the streets, nor do they have to shut entire cities down for weeks each year because air quality is so dangerously bad as they do in India. And if they have railway police in India, it's only because they were desperately needed and because many of India's trains are so slow that they turn into human cattle wagons. And for the record, I don't LIVE in America.

This is NOTHING to do with policing. Trains NEVER had police guards.

@ichigodragon. I already articulated WHY India has railway police, but if you want to ignore the things that paint the country in a bad light, go ahead. And I'm going to assume that YOU have never been to any of the American cities you mentioned (I have visited two of them BTW). No matter how much you may proclaim India's benefits (and I'm sure there are many), it is still considered a third world nation. Rather than getting defensive about where you are at the moment, I'd take pride that you are at least heading in the right direction, unlike America. Who knows, maybe you can meet at second world in the middle in 20 years?

@deveshkhairnar2723 I was not attacking everything about India. The original poster tried to claim that America was barbaric because this happened unlike in 3rd world countries. I countered by pointing out that LOTS of barbaric things happen in India and Africa, which they do. You are incorrect if you think that massive amounts of crime does not occur in India - it does, lots of it from the police and government. If your best argument against shitting in the street is that that was 6 years ago, you already lost the debate. India has not installed sewage systems and eradicated the culture of defacating on the street in 6 years. But as the discussion seems to have broadened, the world saw how India dealt with covid and the dead there. India is very definitely a 3rd world nation. You are growing, and I applaud that, but Indians have ZERO right to be pointing to other nations and criticising, when your nation is 200 years behind the 1st world in many aspects.

@deveshkhairnar2723 It's irrelevant that PARTS of India are 21st century cities - the vast majority is not. Which is why it is internationally defined as a third world country still.

@deveshkhairnar2723 The world DOES revolve around the western world. I'm sorry that upsets you. Nobody is basing global currency around the rupee, or looking to Africa for ideas about sanitation, or Saudi Arabia for ideas about democracy.That's the simple truth. I would LOVE to see India and Africa and the Middle East sit at the big table as equals but you have a way to go. India is growing fast. Your tech sector and service industries are exploding, and more and more people are moving to the cities, and quality of life is improving. Maybe when you learn to stop breeding like rabbits, demand that your farmers do not turn the cities into smoke-choked toxic wastelands, and insist upon higher standards of governance, things will improve quicker. But that's okay Devesh - it's not a reflection upon you personally unless you are a crop-burning farmer with 10 children who craps in the streets. There are slums in virtually EVERY city, because there are poor in every city. That alone is not what makes a third world nation.

@deveshkhairnar2723 Is it a superiority complex when Tyson says he was the best heavy weight boxer in the world, or Usain Bolt said he was the fastest sprinter? You seem to think that stating unequivocal facts is a superiority complex. Yes, India's birth rate has plumetted. That couples with rising education and economic outlook. It is projected to fall by a further 30% over the next 50 years. But the fact is, India currently has a population of 1.4 billion people - unsustainably high. But well done for reducing a conversation about the fact that India is no more law abiding than America, to one about its birth rate.

@deveshkhairnar2723 I'm sorry, but this is YOUR inferiority complex, not my SUPERIORITY complex. The fact that the west are number 1 is not due to to anything I personally did, any more than India's position is due to you. I feel no personal pride at our position, just massive good fortune to have been born here, but that was just an accident of fate. I don't act like ALL Indians are dumb and poor but millions are. Globally, India is 52nd in average income, 32nd by education, 132nd in life expectancey and 140th on the happiness index. Despite your pride, India is objectively a worse place to live than almost every 1st world country. If being told this offends you, then do something about it Devesh. Become a politician or a campaigner and change the country. Get a fantastic job where you are not choking to death in smog, and do your little bit to raise happiness. Look, India is only going through what the first world went through 100-200 years ago. Except you're fortunate - you get to ride ion the shoulders of giants. The west already did all the hard work inventing technology to make things easier for you. All you have to do, is reach out and use it. And you are. That's smart, and that's why India will become a first world nation far faster than any of us did so.

Not by a long way, and it has an appalling history of oppressing people in other nations, just as America does now, and Rome and the Ottomans and the Egyptians did before. But that was the wealthy in my nation. Ordinary people like me just died to help the powerful gain more money. It never helped the working classes. I don't mean this rudely Devesh, but you have been on this Earth for less than 20 years. The fact that you talk about 6 years as though it's a long time shows that you don't have a deep historical perspective. My advice to you, try to live a good life, by kind to people, try to improve yourself and your country when you can. Holding onto anger about things that you cannot change, in the distant past will not help you. The people who profitted from the terrible treatment of India are long dead, and there's no way that today's British working classes beneffitted from it, so that wealth has gone. Maybe there are some treasures that should be returned, and I'm all for that. India's best course forwards is to become an economic powerhouse, but before that can happen, it needs to treat it's OWN people better.
