Much of this is the common sense moves that any reasonable person has been hoping for, but they want British companies to hire more British people [good], or utilise more automation!! Are you out of your stupid minds?! Automation already threatens to replace millions of workers and you idiots want to hasten that? And how are you going to deal with the fact that manufacturing has switched to China and India and the Phillipines? Care staff DO deserve better pay, but if the patients cannot afford to pay for them, or the homes are too expensive to run, then what? This is an excellent move executed in a stupidly half-baked way. Are you saying a billionire employer who has no degree, and cannot speak English cannot move to Britain?

@graveperil2169 When mass automation kicks in, millions of people will lose their jobs in the transition to a a world where NOBODY works. That transitin is going to be filled with misery and mass suicide. There are few jobs that cannot be automated,especially at the unskilled end of the market. Suggesting that we should hasten the rush towards a world where profit is the only thing that counts, suggests that you have not thought this through very deeply.
