It's not about their nationality - it's about the place they are coming from. SMH. So long as they impose 3 week quarantine on all people returning, hopefully it won't spread.

@gopikrishnan5151 Not really sure what you are suggesting. Australia has the right to protect itself from a deadly pandemic. This is not about wealth or nationality.

@willg9015 No. The world's knowledge of this virus has evolved. India is suffering under a different, more virulent strain. We have seen a disastrous third wave in Europe, and throughout it, Australia has managed to keep things under control. The cases per capita in India are suggested by all experts to be an entire order of magnitude greater than the government figures.

@youngsixty7395 Sorry but the world cannot simply replace your prime minister for someone smarter. ;-) As for Indians building the sun never sets empire, that was before the lifetime of almost everyone living. How long do you think we owe you a debt? India wanted independence and it received it. It has built flourishing tech and manufacturing industries, but still tens of millions of you live in squallor and poverty. That's on you. I have no problem with the rest of the world helping India AFTER we attend to our own needs. If you stopped having such large families you would not be in such trouble.

@nm3247 I agree. Australia should not surrender to the complaints of a tiny few and risk the entire population. At least put them in long quarantine.

@aarrtttv3458 If everything you just said is true, that's even more reason to prevent people coming from the plague zone; or imposing strict quarantine periods. I don't blame Australia for an abundance of caution. NObody in any other country is currently allowed to travel TO India, so why would we allow people to travel FROM there?

@AinzWoolGown They can. I already said I hoped they would. I think any country that is not 100% certain of it quarantine procedures should not accept people from ANY nations where covid is rampaging out of control until it is controlled and the population are vaccinated. If it takes them 10 years to get it under control, then sorry, it's harsh but that's their problem. They will not make it ours.

@akshor6220 Yes, that does seem vindictive. Perhaps they have experienced a problem with people trying to get home via other countries and want to dsicourage it? Breaking quarantine should be viewed as potential mass manslaughter after all.

@tonylucas2963 Describing them as "creatures" does not paint you in the best light. Also, this guy went to see his seriously ill father, and many others could have been in India before things got bad. I think we should avoid making too many assumptions.

@tonylucas2963 So you're saying all Indians are like those two? Hmmm.

@ATARI-DAVE-73 I agree that something so important should not be left to chance, but I don't believe the virus can outlast a three week quarantine. Of course, all the staff who keep them in quarantine then become a risk...
