  1. Why on earth would it be the government's (other tax payers) responsibility to pay for insulating privately owned homes - especially half million pound homes? That house at 2:47 looks as though it might be a barn conversion. Have the owners never heard the aphorism "close the door - were you born in a barn?" By all means, set standards for new builds or council homes - that council house with the hollow walls seems to be a clear case for cavity wall insulation. But I assume every council in the country is heaving under the strain of cuts to repay lockdown. I thought that there were national minimum living standards for council houses? One point though - surely cavities between walls act as insulation layers, not coolers? Isn't that how double glazing works?

  3.  @jebbo-c1l  Again, I ask, why is it the government's duty to spend MY money insulating YOUR house, or vice versa? If you never insulated your house before and now have crippling energy bills, whose fault is that? People's bills are a consequence of the choices they made.
