  2.  john hansberry  REally? And the US and Britain have a better history yes? The one time Iran was stumbling towards democracy the US and Britain undermined them over oil rights!

  3.  john hansberry  I can't help but think that our picture of Russia is painted by people for whom honesty or fairness is not a priority. Certainly the west has done as much if not more harm from what I can see. And Iran was nothing to do with its path to democracy. It was to do with it taking control over its own oil.

  4.  john hansberry  It doesn't matter who built it, it was their oil. The west went into Iran, installed the extraction infrastructure in exchange for massive profits. Iran wanted to audit what they were taking, and the west despicably undermined their democracy to prevent it. You can try to reframe that as much as you like, but that was unforgivable. It's no wonder the Muslim world despises us. I despise the way we have behaved.

  6.  john hansberry  The Muslim world is vast and diverse. I doubt you can make that claim about them all. I've known plenty of Muslims. They were universally polite and pleasant.
