There is a tipping point in climate change, that probably lead to the stripping of Mars' atmosphere and definitely lead to the atmosphere and temperature on Venus. People can get stung by bees 100 times, but it's the 101st that kills them. Cumulative effects, and rapid effects can both create threats this planet has not seen since it first bore mammal life. The fact that there's a big industry in saving the planet is natural. If this planet was going to spend trillions on anything, I can imagine few causes more important or worthy. You seem to be implying that the industry is the cause of the recognition of the problem but you have it backwards. I will definitely agree though, that "the US is wallowing in corrupt petro and coal lobby cash choking the senate. "
