@ChristianPatriarchy Society decides upon reasonable limits via its elected representatives. It does now and ALWAYS has. Incitement to violence and hatred has NEVER been covered.

@Jim Bob No, you misunderstand it. Freedom NEVER meant the ability to do whatever you like. You are free, but not free to commit rape or murder or theft. You are free within the parameters agreed upon by society. Moreover, freedom of speech does not entitle you to a specific commercial megaphone.

@ChristianPatriarchy Freedom of speech is simply a human construct, like morality or equality. As such, its limits are whatever society decides it to be. I know nobody that believes that it should have no limitations, but where those limitations should fall is a matter of debate. I can see strong arguments for stricter limits personally. If someone told me to kill somebody, it would depend upon the circumstances. If I was a soldier, I probably would. If I was a member of the public being ordered by the president, then no, most definitely not. If I was an impressionable, poorly informed ignoramus, then it would doubtless be far easier to convince me. The defense is irrelevant. Incitement is incitement. Stochastic terrorism is well understood now.

There never was a truer line. In an age of professional, mass disinformation, lies have become the weapons of politicians and foreign powers alike.
