  1. Applying Western values to foreign countries is arrogant and ill-advised. I agree completely that US and European companies should not be permitted to go to these foreign countries for labour simply because the absence of labour laws in their countries enables worker exploitation. However, unless we are all prepared to pay massively more for products and risk these workers losing their subsistence incomes entirely, this issue is not as simple to tackle as your portray Alex.

  2. ***** You're absolutely correct that some rights _should_ be non negotiable. Forced labour is one such right. Child labour is not, and nor is a global minimum  wage (although I would be GREATLY in favour of such an idea). If the people of India wish to rise against exploitation, I greatly support such a move. If the people of the west tell them that they MUST work for x amount per hour, I disagree.
