The world has to cease this childish hostility towards people who make money by speculation. The problem is not how they make money, but when speculation is unregulated and banks are allowed to gamble with money that is not theirs. Without speculators, there would be no Microsoft or Google or Apple. These companies that we love, needed capital to expand beyond small businesses. The fact is, going out and doing physical labour is an immensely DUMB way to earn a living if you want security. It means that your ability to pay your bills is dependent upon, and vulnerable to your ability to do a day's labour. The second you stop working, an entire life-time of effort is in jeopardy. It's literally, a hand-to-mouth existence. Don't berate those who know how too use money - just put limits upon their behaviour so that they don't have an unfair advantage.

It's a pity you deleted your perfectly reasonable comment to my earlier post, but as you did, I'm going to reply to it here. I absolutely agree that it is admirable for anyone to earn a living however their intellect permits them to. I wasn't suggesting that people who earn a living doing manual labour are dumb, but that idealising manual labour over investment is a stupid idea. Even low IQ manual workers can make their money work for them. I don't know to what extent we should look out for the low intelligence worker. I support a liveable minimum wage and affordable healthcare. I'm not sure that I would go further than that. Would you? And if so, in what way?

@ericallen763 Poverty is one of the greatest indicators of future health problems, criminality, and low IQ. Education is one of the greatest tools in raising people from poverty so you'll get no argument from me. Unfortunately, stupid people tend to raise stupid kids. Unless you support taking their kids from them, more money does not necessarily stop the cycle. I'd be interested to hear how you think that issue should be resolved.

Jerogai Which is precisely why I concluded with the words "put limits upon their behaviour so that they don't have an unfair advantage."
