  1. Dsagree. He's saying that people are choosing the wrong destination. The flaw in his argument is that if people chose the correct destination, then it would be positive.

  2. I agree that what we want is not always what will make us happy, but to imply that acquiring happiness is bad is crazy. The pursuit of happiness may be deceptive and misleading, but its acquisition is sincere enough.

That is a phenomena, but I'm certan that he was referring to the often reported studies whee people are asked what they think will make them happy (usually money) then they get it, and they realise that it isn't the money per se, that makes them happy - it's the freedom, or the sense of achievement, or whatever, so simply getting their heart's desire often proves to be very unfulfilling.
