  1. Society needs to move beyond the need to prioritise revenge over rehabilition. Except in the most serious cases, the criminal is always released eventually, and if they have been criminally educated and hardened by the penal system, we only make them nastier criminals. That being said, violent crimiinals need to be kept away from society for OUR protection.
