  2. Products are designed for the market and economy in which they will be sold. In the west, which has a culture of waste, products are only designed around frugality insomuch as cheaper manufacture enables the manufacturer to maximise the profit per unit. In india, for instance, low manufacturing cost enables products to be sold to lower income buyers. Nevertheless, if the low budget of the purchaser is a major design consideration, that has a stifling effect upon some innovation.
