@Voron_Aggrav Actually coal power plants can be relatively cleanly operated, if the exhaust gases are sufficiently scrubbed and filtered first. (the technology has existed for many decades, and is in various stages of use in different countries)

@bradymenting5120 ...and various innovations that weren't available / typically used at the time the K Boats were designed, such as welded construction. That: and Sub's were still largely shaped like torpedo boats (rather than teardrop shaped), due to having to run on the surface in potentially heavy sea states.

 @allangibson8494 It's a terrible idea though, which is why the RN abandoned such Sub' designs back in the 1950's 😅

@Voron_Aggrav I know. Just worth noting that if done right coal can be a relative clean complement to nuclear, that uses up a resource (coal) that has few other uses.

@donberry7657 That's not a new thing. The Victorians discovered that while developing Smokeless Coal (Coke).
