+ When not of a mood to leave port, "bump" the nearest jetty or the harbour floor wherever possible ;-) .

Aye, or at least substituted Queen Elizabeth when Warspite's hull condition became known.

Germany: We have a Navy! Great Britain: We have Warspite.

@daleeasternbrat816 Politicians [as always] have long been the biggest recurring threat to navies.

Queen Elizabeth would certainly have been an ideal alternative (being in best condition despite being the eldest), with dismountable bits of her three younger sisters going to museums.

Another excellent vid', upon this most legendary class of warship. I recall a CG illustration of Warspite (done for Wargaming), which looked like she was chasing a pair of fighter planes... or that the latter were running away from her XD.

Same. Also got the 1:600 kit.

The Battleship Queen Elizabeth though was named after Elizabeth I, though some books still claim it was after the Queen Mother... for some reason.

@captbumbler5356 Pretty much. Nato-members' politicians have been doing it for generations, while all the US could do about it is look on dispairingly. Had the Russians actually invaded back then, the response would've been embarrasing.

Or "the grand old lady", something I've heard the BBMF Lancaster called on occasion.

Debatable with CVF, as the second ship is named Prince of Wales. The never-built CVA-01 project's 1st ship was to have been Queen Elizabeth, whilst the 2nd was to have been 'HMS Duke of Edinbrugh'. Thus there's quite a decent case for CVF having been named after Elizabeth II, not I.
