Mark, you do realize that the US spends vastly more on military than the next largest economies in the world combined - we dwarf everyone and it is fueled by deficit spending and it is counted towards our GDP as well... and it is somehow uplifting to our nation? So how is dumping infinite amounts of debt into our military industrial complex for future generations to repay somehow more virtuous than Russia's allocation. Not to mention the inflation and hardship that it causes here and now for our citizens.

@Aussie-Mocha Russia's investment in their military industrial capacity that is being utilized in Ukraine is absolutely obliterating our investment. Their ROI is much higher than ours and will continue to become moreso over time.

@EconLessons the point is our investment in war and defense is just as self defeating and inefficient as Russias is. Ours is even more self defeating since we are taking on more debt and not accomplishing anything. We spend massive amounts of money to accomplish nothing other than expand a top heavy bloated inefficient beracracy

@Ufthak instead of using our talents and resources to arbitrate an end to conflict, we are sending men to a perpetual meat grinder. What a tragedy. Inefficient indeed, but someone is profiting from this , don't forget it.
