Whatever its pitfalls the British rule was also a blessing in disguise to India especially to the subalterns; universal health, modern education etc were the British contribution - even though by default as some might claim - and these infrastructures brought fundamental changes in Indian thinking which prior to British was moribund and regressive. Besides social infrastructures the British also encouraged several social reforms which directly confronted the evil social practices like sati, untouchability etc tools the oppressing castes used for promoting bammanical patriarchy and its atrocities over majority of the population. The hindutva wadis shld hv no reason to complain against the brits as it were the Brits who took away power from the Mughals and gave it to the Hindutva wadis on the platter ( so little wonder why Savarkar post his release from the Andamans worked for British interests and against the congress party and for which he also received hefty pension). Thanks to the British rule for introducing values of western civilisation like democracy, parliament system of governance, jurisprudence based on principles of natural justice and all the pillars of modern civilisation which were antithetical to all the regressive practices of bammanism dominated Hinduism and Islam.

@NK-bh3ns : All said and done British rule was indeed a blessing in disguise to India regardless of the purpose of their rule over India

@NK-bh3ns : before the Brits it were the bammans who exploited the caste system so y blame d Brits for using the divisions which already existed ....it was bcos of the atrocities in the name of casteism many got converted to Islam Buddhism Jainism Sikhism et al ..so don’t blame the Brits for divide n rule ...the Brits at least left India with something but what abt the bamman insurgents who played havoc with the social fabric of India n for which India continues to suffer ..

Before the British the bammans divided Indians into castes and placed themselves on the top on the basis of skin colour (Varnashram) because they hd arrived from Eurasia their skin was lighter n considered superior- just as because the colour of the cow is white it’s considered superior and holy as compared to the Buffalo which even though gives more milk is still considered inferior because of its dark skin - the bammans appointed the kshatriyas and banias from amongst the non-bammans to do the job which the KAPO did for the Nazis in respect of its own Jews & HEAD-NEGRO did for White US racists in respect of the enslaved blacks - and the rest were classified as shudras. So if at all the Brits are being blamed for divide and rule than the source of inspiration were the bammans. The present caste system and casteism inspired atrocities prevailing in today’s India are proof enough that even though the Brits hv departed from India in 1947 Indians still religiously follow caste divide overtly wherever its suits their interests and covertly also ..

@Intrinsic Superiority : even Savarkar n his Hindu Mahasabha n RSS were supportive of British because Brits got rid of Muslim rule ...Savarkar even received hefty pension from British ...

@vibhavdeshpande8196 : so book material - with all the scope for manipulation - is more authentic than the actual structures of modern education, health and administration built by the British ....how far will ull keep stretching your intellectual dishonesty ???
