@phillip1115 There are "these things" called LNG tankers. Germany is building recently six floating LNG terminals (can be converted to green hydrogen terminals as well) at the North Sea and the Baltic coast lines.

@marcbergeron8690 Marc, nat gas is used as raw material for proceeding things like steel, glass, paper, medical units, Aspirin, dairy products etc., etc. Soon the industry has to convert from nat gas to green hydrogen. Will take time, but its on the way.

Methane is about 21 times more destructive then CO2. Not helpfull at all.

@marcbergeron8690 Of course there is green hydrogen, produced due windmill parks. Green hydrogen can also be used as storage battery for overloads from the offshore windmill parks in the sea. In case , you come up now with birds get killed from windmills, the modern ones have sensors build in, so they stop moving, when birds come. Green hydrogen is the future. Btw, river beds with concrete? Thats nothing to do with ecology nor renewable energies, thats just killing nature.

@marcbergeron8690 You where only talking about solar parks destroying nature. My answer to that was, there isn't only solar but other renewables like windmills. And as you where also refering, that you are an ecologist, some of them are criticising windmills for killing birds ( at least where I'm from), I've put it already into my answer (preventive, if you like 😉). The coal power plants will be only used temporarily as back up power in the winter. Germany will replace coal, oil, fuel/petrol/ diesel and nat gas with green hydrogen in the near future. Hydrogen can be used as battery storage for electricy overloads from offshore windmill parks in the sea or other renewable created energy. Green hydrogen is the future.

@gr4vityjuli4n France had to shut down half of its nuclear power plants because of low water levels in the rivers due to the recent heat wave. Reactors need river water for cooling. Germany is doing the back up power. Btw: radioactive dumb is radioactive for minimum hundred thousand years, until now humans haven't solved that problem! Greetings from "Lucy", the "first" human on earth. Just to show, how long hundred thousand years are .....

The EU/ Germany want to replace coal, oil/ petrol/ fuel/ diesel and nat gas with green hydrogen in the near future. Hydrogen can be used as storage batteries for the overloads from offshore windmill parks as well. It all was on the way anyway, but because of that terrible war it all has to be done in "fast forward". Can also be seen as a chance!

@jamesleadley7872 My brother used to live in Calgary, and yes, I'm aware of the size of Canada! But I can't say anything of Canadas internal infrastructure. Also you where talking about oil while I was talking about nat gas/LNG. Anyway, I'll think, our Gvts will sort it. Have a nice day, over here its just about to get dark 😉

@sarahbrown5073 Yes, you are correct! To produce green hydrogen lots of renewable electricity is needed. The modern windmills have sensors built in, so they stop moving, when birds are coming. Offshore windmill parks will be build more, but also at areas, where it doesn't disturb like along motorways or industrial areas etc. Hydrogen can also be used as storage battery for overloads from the offshore windmill parks in the sea or others. Green hydrogen will be the future. Forgot to say: its also planned to install solar pannels on all public buildings where possible ( of course not on protected ones or where the construction can't take the extra weight).

@nsnshshn8846 The EU/ Germany will replace all fossil fuels (oil/ coal/ nat gas) with green hydrogen, the goal is focused on 2030-2045. Daimler Trucks and Volvo Trucks have developed hydrogen powered trucks and some weeks ago the world wide first 14 hydrogen powered trains started their service in Lower Saxony/ Germany 😉

Germany is forwarding nat gas to the Ukraine, Poland, Tchechia, Austria and some other countries. The ex east block countries had been completely connected to Russia until (due to being part of the ex Sowiet Union) the war started. All of them had been connected now towards the EU/ Germany. Wasn't that easy, because nat gas needs infrastructure (pipelines) , which had to be redirected/ build new.
