@ph11p3540 They also carry all needed infrastructure at an airport, tower included. Who knows, may be that cable wasn't marked at the correct position in the drawings. We have a saying over here: where humans are involved/working on, mistakes can happen 😉 But they are back to normal, apart from thousands of people stuck all over the world.

@fazeobama8872 No 😉 It simply was an accident, which can happen at huge construction sites, when working below ground level ... It's already sortet again, apart from thousands of people being "stuck" around the world ...

@henrybn14ar If you call a "poor guy" working as a driver for bulldozers causing this accident "a Russian", well, then you've obviously never worked on a construction site.... I really hope that the construction company has a really good insurance as the damage is around xx-millions of Euros .. Btw, the shaft with the 5 arm thick fibre glass cables was five meters below ground ... Just saying... Edit typo

@TrixiLovesYou Deutsche Bahn construction site, you "clever smart" LOL

@leehawk7068 I'm afraid it's available on national TV only right now. Have just looked up for it on YT and didn't find anything about that. To be honest, all you could see on TV was a lot of Sand, a bulldozer and the shaft with the "ripped" cables, nothing really special. Greetings to Asia from Germany 😉

@TheRealStructurer Have you ever worked on a construction site, I guess not. "Things" like that can happen, more often as you might think .... Btw, this is why (in Germany) construction companies have insurances for those issues as a "must". No redundancy needed ...

@leehawk7068 They've just shown the construction site on TV, the shaft where the cables are in is 5 meters below ground, the shaft including 5 cables (arm thick) were destroyed, two have been already repaired (airport cables). The reporter was just saying that he hopes for the construction company that they have a really good insurance (a duty for construction companies in Germany), as the damage is around xx- millions of Euros.

@leehawk7068 Yup ! To be honest it also surprised me, but as I don't know all details (of course), it sounded more like, that the "main" fibre glass cable for a whole area got damaged, therefor not only the airport but a much larger area was involved. It was just unlucky that Frankfurt airport was part of that. But you're right, I would have expected a "back up" cable or something like that as well ... May be they might think about that for the future ...

@Bushings.78 You seem to be a real "clever smart", eh? Working underneath ground level is quite different with huge machinery ... But it looks like, a bit of "German bashing" has made your day, eh?

@Bushings.78 Are you Hungarian? 😉
