@Cecilia-ky3uw Uighurs/Tibetans in China & American Hawaii beg to differ. Why you insist on blaming the smaller countries, while the problem in big countries themselves are not yet solved? Also if Indonesia is racist.. then these people of immigrant descent are not allowed from participating in society at all.. Indians like Raam Punjabi, Sri Prakash Lohia, etc; Chinese like Liem Siew Liong aka Sudono Salim, Lie Moe Tie (Mochtar Riady), Bob Hasan, etc; Arabs like Anies Baswedan, Shihab clan, etc
1
@Cecilia-ky3uw Oh on which scale? Can you point out? There are many of my Papuan friends at university who would disagree with you. Papuans have special quotas/special path for becoming state-owned (BUMN) and government employees, many of us could ever dreamed on (it is a desirable jobs for us Indonesians). Papuans are also allowed to become minister (e.g. Yohana Yembise) and government officials in their own region. Meanwhile, can an immigrant of Hong Kong Indian descent or Uighur descent be a minister in China's central government? LOL.
1
@Cecilia-ky3uw According to Dutch-Indonesia agreement (Round Table Conference, Den Haag 1949).. the territory of Indonesia consisted of former Dutch Eat Indies territory ("uti possidetis iuris") and Dutch promised to talk about solving the Papuan issue. But Dutch betrayed the agreement, thus the nationalization of Dutch companies in indonesia. Also, Papuans are equally Indonesian citizens not colonized: they are not forced to use Javanese names, they keep their religion (even christian Indonesians are happy with their presence), and not enslaved. Meanwhile, the same cannot be said about Aboriginal Formosans treatment during Ming & Qing Dynasty, Uighurs treatment during P.R.China's era, or the wiping out of Native Americans in USA.
1
@marsilio4328 Yep double standards by the big countries.. US/Russia/China.. always pressing on the smaller countries while the issue of minorities in their own countries are not even solved yet.
1
@marsilio4328 Which massacre? Have you read my comment above? Need to explain allover again? 1965-1966? Was not an ethnic cleansing toward chinese indonesians, it was a massacre toward people accused of being Communists.. the largest victims came from Javanese farmers and labors. Yes it was horrible. 1998 riot? The victims were not only exclusively Chinese, many of them were non-Chinese like the missing activists (Widji Thukul the poet being the most prominent). Yes it was horrible. You don't raise voice for them too? Secondly, P.R.China not only not acknowledging the massacres toward political dissidents during "Cultural Revolution", Uighurs, Tiananmen Square protesters, etc.. but also not yet granting rights for non Han Chinese to become central figures in Politics & Economy until today.
1
@marsilio4328 Denying what? Are you an Indonesian like me? Do you even understand the history? The context around 1965-1966 or 1998? You seem are not an Indonesian. Bisa gak kau ngomong Indonesia, paling gak bisa. Meanwhile P.R.China still being denial of its treatment toward minority. Here, a coin. Go criticize them, not just Indonesia.
1
@marsilio4328 Read the comments above. Or if you are an Indonesian, talk with me with bahasa Indonesia.. seems like you don't know the history of Indonesia.
1
Malaka Tan You Chinese, Americans, Russians would always demand smaller countries (us) everything and shove your narratives into our throat.
1
Meanwhile? Did P.R.China already admits that it conducted the "Tong Chup" massacre during 1979 invasion to Vietnam? Or acknowledging its fault on supporting the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia 1976-1978? Or to millions of its own citizens during "Great Leap Ahead" and "Cultural Revolution" purge? Did the Chinese supremacists like you admit about the wipe out of Aboriginal Formosans during Ming & Qing Dynasty? Double standards.
1
@hachibidelta4237 Uh.. you never heard the Holodomor then. Or the displacement of Armenian population from Artsakh.. which was the root of Azerbaijan-Armenian conflict. Or before the Soviet era: Circassian massacre.
1
1
@hailyrizzo5428 Of course the government admit. What's wrong with it? We Indonesians are democratic & tolerant nation .. too tolerant perhaps so that Indians, Arabs, Chinese are able to hold our important positions.. even if we are a small country. Unlike Chinese supremac1st who never apologize for what they did toward Aboriginal Formosans during Ming & Qing dynasty & the treatment of P.R.China toward Tibetans, Uighurs, Inner Mongolians, and Catholic of China.. or what P.R.China did to Vietnam like the Tong Chup m4ssacre of 1979.
1
@lunix3259 Not just islamophobia or your own religion.. these Chinese supremac1sts already blame you all Indonesians no matter what your religion is.
1
@peekaboopeekaboo1165 some pro-P.R.China & han China supremacist propagandist.
1
@bunnystrasse Past is past all of those you mentioned mostly happened during Suharto times. While China is still oppressing its Uighur & Tibetan minority, Pakistan still oppressing its Hindu minority, etc
1
@bunnystrasse 1965 massacres? The victim is not just ethnic Chinese but most of it were farmers, labors, even armed forces members, government workers, ordinary people accused of being Communist Party of Indonesia (PKI) sympathizers.. most of them were in Java (ethnic Javanese) since this tragedy was in Java island. Think of it as similar as the Stalin's Purge in Soviet or Mao's Cultural Revolution Purge.. but the victims were reversed: communists instead.
1
Except Jews are not spreading their people all over the world. Or imposing their culture over other country's culture. And now Israel is relatively secluded, compared to expansionist P.R.China. Also.. I bet Israel is not happy with P.R.China now because Iran is China's friend...
1
@baron7199 Typical chinese supremacists.. when you demand Indonesians to admit their dark past, you don't want to admit Chinese's own dark past
1
@baron7199 LOL. Kau ceracau apaan sih, b0d0h?? Orang Tionghoa, Arab, India sudah diberikan hak yg sama sebagai WNI pasca Orba, kita jangan bicara masa lalu lagi. Bahkan dibolehkan jadi orang penting di politik & ekonomi. Kwik Kian Gie (chindo) jadi menteri, Nganies (arab) jadi Gubernur, Sri Prakash Lohia (india) jadi salah satu taipan bisnis Indonesia.
1
@baron7199 Sementara lu nuntut2 Indonesia, chindo.. kenapa lu gak nuntut agar India memperlakukan minoritas muslimnya dgn setara, atau Pakistan memperlakukan nonmuslimnya secara setara, atau China RRC meminta maaf atas apa yg terjadi pada Aborigin Formosa & Tibet serta berhenti memperlakukan Uighur dgn buruk?
1
1
@rainz4599 You are criticizing Indonesia yet you still live in Indonesia ... what a parasite. You don't look how even more severe the situation of interethnic relation in other countries.
1
@idk_wtf_is_going_on9614 Ha. Invading Singapore? Not really. But P.R.China seems like to invade its neighbor's sea. Yesterday China's Coast Guard was caught inside North Natuna Sea. Let alone those artificial islands built over Philippines & Vietnamese sea. Of course Chinese supremacist like you don't oppose it.
1
@rainz4599 I'm not comparing. But you are the one who demand "fairness". While (yes) Indonesia had dark past, Chinese themselves also had dark past. Every nation has a dark past, dude.
1
@ramumanickam1643 Mgr. Soegijapranata said: 100% orang katolik = 100% orang Indonesia
1
1
@jjsamuelgunn1136 I don't do whataboutism. Every nation has dark past. But why you Western and Chinese always insist on blaming Indonesia? Yes Indonesia has dark past, but how about yours? Solved yet? It's like pot calling kettle black.
1
@rainz4599 "Just sharing" but actually "menjelek-jelekkan" / cornering Indonesia
1
@rainz4599 Alah lu sendiri juga bikin asumsi seolah2 lu sendiri yg jadi victim pas kejadian kerusuhan 1998 itu. Banyak non chinese jadi victim, lu gak liat demonstran kayak Widji Thukul dan mahasiswa2 Trisakti? Lu gak liat orang-orang yg dihilangkan Suharto?
1
@rainz4599 You also made assumption as if only ethnic Chinese were the victim of 1998 riot in Jakarta and made as it appears to be "Indonesians being racist toward Chinese" while actually it was Soeharto's diverting the protesters attention by scapegoating the Chinese (but it was failed to widespread & only localized in Jakarta). You forgot that many non-Chinese (like Widji Thukul - a notable poor Javanese poet) were missing because of Suharto regime.
1
@rainz4599 You forgot that non Chinese like Timorese became victims of Suharto regime in 1991 (Santa Cruz Incident), locals who became victims during Tanjung Priok 1984, the murder of labor woman Marsinah, the murder of "Bernas" news media reporter by Suharto, or the victims of force eviction during Suharto-era Kedungombo Dam development.
1
@jjsamuelgunn1136 This video is not also a justification for cornering the Indonesians or to amplify US/Russia/China/Arab etc narratives to our throat. The fact that racism happens everywhere even in much worse scale than in Indonesia now (after Suharto dictatiorship went down). The fact that Arabs, Indians, and Chinese can be a business tycoons are example of democracy in Indonesia.. unlike how Uighurs and Tibetans are stripped from its identities & unable to equally participate in the central government of P.R.China.
1
@jonijoestar6871 This.. you get my point
1
@aliceyan8808 Yep. Thanks to Indonesian government under Gus Dur (Abdurrachman Wahid) efforts and apology/reconciliation in early 2000s, the interfaith and interethnic situation in Indonesia has became much better, even if not perfect. Just ignore the US, P.R.China, Russians, and Saudi Arabia supporters shoving their narratives into smaller countries mouth. They have minority issues not solved yet, far worse even.. yet they taunt other countries.
1
Olivia Winani The ancestors of the Manchu people, the Jurchen, originally formed the Jin dynasty located to the Song dynasty's northeast. The Jurchen Jin already started assimilating Han Chinese language, and even their Jurchen script was influenced by Chinese characters (hanzi). So they were already Sinicized from the start and even more Sinicized when they became the holder of Qing dynasty. Beside they are not foreigners anyway, they were literally on the same continent. Unlike the relation between India and British.. or Indonesia with Chinese, Arab, and Indian. Locals & foreigners. Different continent and whole different civilization.
1
@jordyj4126 Yeah we talk about today, not Suharto anymore. Now is now. That's like talking about Nazi Germany where its relevancy to today's circumstance is very little, because today's Germans are not like Germans under Hitler. Meanwhile P.R.China is still under CCP and still systematically oppresses the Uighurs & Tibetans. Or like in Pakistan where Christians are still discriminated. Or like India where Hindu supremac1st is still prevalent in India's politics.
1
@jordyj4126 This video is not just about Suharto time. This video is about crony capitalism which still dominates even until today. So it's about today.
1
Jo Nathan? Why, can't handle the truth? If Indonesians are not tolerant then why we have multiple ethnics, why people of immigrant descent (Arab, Indian, Chinese, Indo-European) are allowed to hold important position in Indonesia including made their own hegemony in economy? Why negative people of immigrant descent like Anies Baswedan (arab) & Edy Tansil (chinese) are allowed to be born and be wealthy in Indonesia?
1
@jordyj4126 Well you also remember the case of Benny Moerdani being blamed for Tanjung Priok 1984 despite it was an order from Suharto? You forget that in 1998 there were also many non-ethnic Chinese e.g. Widji Thukul (javanese Indonesian) who became victim of the riot? You don't see how Munir Thalib (an arab Indonesian) lost his life just because he demands the justice for what happened in the 1998? It's not just about Chinese. The world is not going around you only.
1
@jordyj4126 You forget that Hendra Setiawan (a chinese) is allowed to be general in Police force. Unlike non Han Chinese unable to become important figure in Chinese central government.
