Yeah. Too complicated to be a rifle for standard issue.

@megah1rz he means standard infantry rifle for average joe like AKM & AK74M... replacing it with AN94 would be tooo much expensive and too complicated for daily usage

@worldoftancraft that's out of topic. We talk about basic small arms for average joe like rifles, SMG, or pistols. Not sophisticated crew-operated weapons like AA gun or artillery. Even at the same category ZSU-23 is not alone.. there are Bofors, Oerlikon, SkyShield, etc

@worldoftancraft Russia was on crisis in 1990s (it literally paid its debt to South Korea with weapons) and its armed forces not yet fully modernized , AKM was still in reserves & police forces. Key word: WAS not IS.

@worldoftancraft "overengineering of German school". Uh, G3 and its derivatives (including MP5) would like to have talk with you. HK416 is more rugged than Colt M4A1. German engineering is actually more pragmatic than French quirky engineering (MAS-49, Hotchkiss Type Universal, FAMAS, MAS AA-52 GPMG, etc).
