  4. The Soviet economy was not devastated in 1945, it had been going strong behind the Ural Mountains. And still the Soviets had 3 to 1 superiority in manpower in Europe compared to the Allies. Also the USA was still fighting Japan, and would have needed massive logistics to move troops across the Atlantic in case of a Soviet invasion to the Rhine and the Atlantic. No one had the courage to disobey Stalin, not even the generals, the political police was very strong and the ideological war against capitalism was not abandoned.
