  6.  @playerone9824 : I'm afraid your comment didn't hint at any kind of serious point at all, even if that was your intention. Independence is not about putting up insurmountable barriers and cutting Scotland off from the rest of the world (that approach to politics is what England favoured when it voted for Brexit) or ''running away'' from problems: the opposite is in fact the case as I've already mentioned. As for your bizarre dismissal that independence is a ''shit idea'', what is this based on exactly? Has it really been so incredibly awful for other similar sized independent countries like Norway, Sweden, or Denmark? Do they feel that they must merge with neighbouring countries in order to have some kind of worth? No. To take just one example of a progressive policy measure that the SNP are in favour of, Scotland has a very bright future in terms of renewable energy and this is something that every country on the planet is going to have to take a lot more seriously in future when fossil fuels simply can't be relied upon any more. England isn't doing enough to address this (thinking that fracking is a better idea) so why shouldn't Scotland take a different, more sustainable path? Lastly, I completely disagree with the idea that the Scottish independence movement is based on a ''few years'' of Tory governments at Westminster. This is an issue that goes back decades (1955). For the sake of this argument though, try twelve years; that's when Cameron and Osborne implemented their austerity plans. The SNP have always opposed this. Even if Labour do win the next GE (which looks somewhat likely at the moment), after a few years voters in England will tire of them and switch back to the Conservatives and the whole saga will trundle on indefinitely. Also bear in mind that Stamer has said that he will not work with the SNP to deliver any kind of progressive alliance in future. How is that helpful to Scotland? If you want the idea of independence to vanish you're going to need to come up with solutions to these fundamental problems. Tell us how this supposed 'unions of equals' can be made better in its current state because I can't see anything changing south of the border.
