DH is ignoring how NATO set a dilemma for Putin. After the coup in 2014, the Azov Brigade and other units of the U, were trained, supplied and financed by NATO and battle hardened by fighting the militias of the Russian-speaking Eastern provinces of Ukraine, by February 2022 they had killed 14,000 of them and were threatening to wipe out the rest. This left Putin with the choice of fighting the largest, best-trained, best armed NATO army in Europe (Effectively going to war with NATO) or being, probably, overthrown as a coward, by his own electorate. Is it fair to describe this as "Putin's Aggression"?
