  1. Kosovo was "given" independence by NATO without even a referendum and then it was recognized by most of the Collective West. The Russian are simply playing by the Kosovo playbook. Incidentally, the French sent a parliamentary delegation to Crimea, to find out what people there thought about unification with Russia and they concluded that it was very popular with the inhabitants.
