Most boys learn in junior school, if not in Kindergarten that if you don't think you can win, it is as well to not start a fight in the first place and if it looks as though you are losing you should stop before you get hurt worse than you have been already. How come our generals and political leaders seem not to understand this?

  2. When the Russians are victorious in this war, which looks extremely likely, they will be faced with a weakened CW as has never happened before. I hope they will be able to use that opportunity, to permanently de-fang the US hegemon and teach it to live in peace with its neighbours! It will not be easy, but I think they will have the enthusiastic support of the rest of the World in so doing. If anyone can do it I think that the Eurasian combination probably can.

  3. About two years ago "The Viking Sagas" were translated into English. Perhaps, I should explain that they are oral History (quite recently written down) and are a fairly realistic account of what life in Iceland was like, from its colonization by human until about the 12th or 13th century. Anyone who thinks that life in a country without a government which Iceland was at that time, is any sort of paradise should read them before making up their mind. It has advantages, to be sure, but it has its drawbacks too.
