They cannot stop supplying Ukraine with weapons, because if they did the Russians would have won and admitting defeat would involve too much loss of face. They cannot continue supplying Ukraine, because they are running out of the weaponry to supply it, so they are heading for a huge crash. They could see it if they could bear to look at it, but it is easier to think that maybe, something will turn up to save the situation. So they go on supplying what they can while averting their thoughts from what is coming. "Kicking the can down the road", so to speak. In fact, it is almost an exact parallel to the financial situation, re de-dollarization.
