(E.g. Eastern Syria & Iraq.) If anyone still remembers the events of 2013-2016, they will recall that the US fought ISIS with such vigour, that the apparently unstoppable terrorists, carved out a large and rapidly expanding Califate, until the Russians pricked that bubble.
