Think how much less embarrassing it would be, to deliberately cut off supplies to Zelensky, to force him to talk to the Russians, (a thoroughly admirable action) than to admit that you had, in effect, unilaterally disarmed yourself, trying to keep Ukraine fighting a lost battle!
