  1. 49:30 I read a little while ago, (perhaps a month) that the USG was having trouble sourcing TNT, to put in 155mm shells and had had to buy commercial TNT which, apparently, is of a lower grade than military TNT.

  2. Allowing the production of weapons to lapse was entirely sensible because no one was threatening anybody! The idiocy, if you like, was deciding to play chicken with Russia and China, without preparing for the eventuality that they might respond to the challenge, not by backing down or retreating but by saying "OK. Come on! If you're looking for trouble we are your men!"
