  1. I had a lot of my early upbringing in a similar cult...the Roman Catholic Church, and their history is probably just as much a whitewash.

  2.  @contrapunctusrex2499  There are some Catholics who firmly believe in total Papal Infallibility, as has the RCC at various times. The modern church, particularly post Vatican II, definitely supports your view, but, as with any organisation with a large number of followers, there are extremist outliers in the RCC, and Total Infallibility isn't even one of the more edtreme beliefs.

  4. Yes, it really shows the same ups and downs one sees in feudal and imperial dynasties, with a lot of Italian politics.
