  2. Damn, had forgotten about that, good idea. Maybe a series on dodgy parents of presidents, including crooked bootlegger Joe Kennedy. Only trouble is most had pretty unremarkable parents.

  4. Though like many presidents, of either stripe, an abominable person. In his case he was a rude elitist, always talking down to those he considered beneath his exalted station, odd that his son is considered to be a much nicer person.

Yeah, that's an inconsistent tradition, as presidents are often considered, in error, to start their term when elected, though they do not assume office for 2 months or so, eraly in the following year. That also undoes the 9/11 conspiracy nuts, as GWB had only been in office for 8 months, and Gore had been widely tipped to be there, and the planning for 9/11 had started during Clinton's time. There is no way GWB could have had any role in it. Now, dodgy three-letter agencies is another matter, their negligence was in part due to cute during the Clinton time and Bush Sr time.

  6. He wasn't good, really. The fall started with him, though many argue his son was a brief resurgence. Not being American it hardly matters to me, but he gave the Democrats too much ammunition.

  7. I think he felt entitled to ride on the back of the Cold War, which was over soon into his term, and the first Gulf War didn't give him that crutch. Because Reagan's successes didn't rub off on him he had to manufacture a crisis and hope it translated into votes.
