  8. Bodhissatva, I'd be very reluctant to use doctors in Thailand for anything more than a prescription for a drug that I already am familiar with.

  9. Bodhissatva, the reason that I'm against socialized medicine is because it guts R&D and costs many fold more lives in the long run. It's not a false dichotomy that we have a choice between curing someone like Stephen Hawking while a person dies who couldn't afford insurance because they weren't working and/or didn't save their money and/or didn't invest in catastrophic protections in case of the worst and has developed no safety net for themselves among family and friends. The way I see it, you would have us keep that person who made bad life choices and now suffers for it alive at the expense of the life of someone who is dying as no effect from his choices.
