Make laws that promote big banks to give high-risk creditors home loans, then blame the banks that were doing what they wanted them to do. Makes sense only to people who want to instate more crushing laws. Stop Fannie Mae from buying and then providing government guarantee for those loans. That's how you fix this.

Or we stop the government guarantee of home loans which was fully intended to lead to speculative lending in the first place. Don't blame the banks for doing what the government promoted them to do.

In short, what Republicans were warning about before the housing crash: stop having the GSE's buying and placing government guarantee on loans, which is intended to lead to speculative lending.

bj smith, Democrats need to go to jail. The banks were just doing what Democratic policy promoted them to do.

Paul MacLean, the core reason that the Democrats made these policies is to get banks to give high-risk loans. You can't blame the banks for doing exactly what the legislation was meant to encourage them to do. They give the loan, they sell the loan to a government-sponsored enterprise, speculators buy the loan from the government-sponsored enterprise. I give credit where it's due and lay blame where it's due. I possibly hate the Republican party more than the Democratic party. I certainly hate them for more reasons than the Democratic party. In this case, Republicans had been warning of a housing crash due to the practices of Fannie Mae since 2001. Democrats said they saw no problem with any of it, and refused to appoint a regulatory committee over the GSE when hearings were held after Fannie Mae's ledger fiasco. Democrats were to wholly blame, Republicans warned about this situation, banks were the neutral party, and now people like you have no idea what's transpired, you're just running around like chickens spouting all sorts of ignorance..

No, it's free money for them because they can sell the loans to Fannie Mae, which is exactly the way the Democrats want it. Speculation started with Fannie Mae buying high-risk loans which then puts a government guarantee on those loans. This is what Democrats wanted: getting more high-risk creditors into homes.
