  1. When I was a child living in South Alabama I had a neighbor that did A LOT of fishing. It was fairly common for him & his fishing buddy to come back on Sunday, after fishing all weekend, with an 8 foot stringer of bream full to the top. He had a washing machine rigged up with chicken wire inside it, he would dump some of the fish in it, put the washer on the "spin" cycle & it would scale most of the fish. He would then take them out one at a time, finish scaling each & finish cleaning the fish. I'm sure his little invention saved him hours & hours of time that he would have spent scaling fish. Which wasn't really ever an enjoyable task, no matter how big the fish were that you had caught! And back then about 3-4 families in our neighborhood would have a "get together fish fry." Each family would put in $5 and we would buy a bunch of shrimp. We would shell half & batter & fry them. Batter & fry bream & catfish too. Some would make hush puppies & whatever else they were good at making & we would all have a big outside picnic. Beer drinking & smoking weed before, during & after. It was in those days when I first heard of "prescription marijuana" for cancer patients. And weed would continue to be illegal until just recently.

  2. Yeah, as a child & then growing into an adult, on one hand I got teased by my family about being slow to accomplish whatever it was I was doing. But I had also always heard that anything worth doing; is worth doing right the first time. So when I had a task, I would concentrate on quality first, & then if I had to do it more, I would then concentrate on doing it faster & faster but with the same quality I had already previously established.

  3. Yes, although I had heard a little about the artificial Mulberry Harbors, it was never enough for me to really understand how it was actually built & put into place. And now, I still don't understand it all completely but I do have a much better idea of how it was done. I'd be willing to bet that was something that REALLY pissed Hitler off. 1) Cuz we built our own harbor & 2) He had heavily fortified all the harbors & 3) There was nothing he could do to stop it!!!!
