I grew up in the deep south & my Dad was a Gordon Lightfoot fan. So by the age of 5 or 6 I knew about the fate of the Edmond Fitzgerald. I never doubted that it was a true story & a major tragedy for the men aboard and the family & friends that knew them. I would have never thought that it was because they reached water that was more shallow and therefore the waves were bigger is probably why she sank. But it makes sense, when you have these big waves coming in & all of sudden the sea bed rises a couple hundred feet. Then there is less room in the water, then the waves get a lot bigger and once you are already there, there is nothing you can do about it! It's a very sad story. And it is a good reason to equip these ships with sonar so they know when they are approaching water that's not as shallow. On a calm day, not a big deal. But in a massive storm such a place is going to have swells growing up 50 to 100 feet.

Well, with over 9 billion people in the world there are going to be a lot of weirdness. I don't understand people that enjoy pain! I'd be willing to bet that if they had to deal with the amount of pain I deal with on a daily basis they would grow tired of it really fast! There are times I get so tired of hurting I've thought about suicide. And I've never liked the idea of suicide for any reason. Anyone that likes pain, if they were in my body they would be in heaven. But, I'm fairly certain that they would get just as tired of it as I am!

Hey Drach, I just wanted to say "Hello" & thank you for answering the question about the "Edmund Fitzgerald" in the way & manner that you did. It, of course, was not a warship. And as far as the time period you mainly like to cover, the Fitzgerald doesn't really fit with that either. However, lives were lost & those people had people that lived & loved them. And instead of finding a way to NOT answer the question, you gave it your best try. And by what I heard, you did a fairiy good job of it. Although I was not personally aware of any of the victims of this ship going down. I am certain that the people that were, were pleased at the seriousness of answering the question in the best way you knew how. Whenever a large group of people lose their lives people try to make sense of it. And the answers you gave make the most sense from the evidence discovered since then. So thank you.
