  1. Thank you. That was pretty much how I'd seen things as well. It's a shame that Eisenhower had more of a tendency to give Monty whatever he wanted while taking it away from our own forces. Especially when our own forces were actually moving further into occupied France & Germany instead of sitting in a defensive line & trying to think of a creative way to break the lines. It's not rocket science you concentrate your armor & infantry and move forward. And when you get the enemy in retreat you keep applying pressure to keep making them retreat. Patton had it down & was moving forward every day until Monty figured out a way to stop him. It's sad to think that but it's known to be true. It wasn't the Germans that stopped Patton, it was Ike & Monty that stopped Patton
