On the issue of Elbonianess, I have a candidate for the exact opposite that worked around the Bureau of Ordinance. How about Admiral Lee fudging paperwork to "procure & install" as many anti- aircraft guns as possible for as many ships as possible. And I think he was able to do the same with radar & fire control systems as well, unless I'm mistaken. An accomplishment that would reap many benefits as the US was plunged into WW2!

I've never been inside a boiler. But I've been inside a rock bin of an asphalt plant to help spot weld a quick patch where a hole had been worn. And considering it was 90°+ outside & the rock in the bin had been 300° I'd have to say it was HOT INSIDE. And we had to wear masks so we could breathe & goggles to keep all the dust out of our eyes. The whole ordeal took maybe 5-10 mins but every minute seemed like ten!

Around 2:36:00 you are talking about if Kurita's Center Force had just powered past Taffy 3 could they have taken out 7th fleet? I'd say if the Yamato was really unleashed and totally lead the battle they could have possibly taken out 7th fleet. However, Kurita will probably run into Lee's fast battleships afterwards & after already fighting a huge battle Admiral Lee's fast battleships would totally destroy Kurita's Center Force. It would have made October 25th even a bigger day in the annals of naval warfare but it still would have ended with the Japanese Navy being defeated. That's my opinion & I'm sticking to it. And Center Force would still have a tough time getting past the USS Johnston regardless. And the more I think about it, Yamato ran away from a couple of destroyers. How is Yamato going to take out a pair of battleships or more when she is too scaredy pants to take on a destroyer or two?

Right around 140:00 mins in someone asks you to include metric measurements when speaking about things. Idk, if it's something that you are really curious about then it's not difficult for the listener to convert Imperial measurements to metric measurements. Most people listening use Imperial measures rather than metric. And considering that Drach is almost always trying to reduce the huge amount of information in a script into a smaller version that doesn't take so long to record &/or listen to it wouldn't make sense to include metric measurements to turn around & make it longer yet again when if it's something that you are really curious about you can figure it out easily these days. A yard is 3 feet. And yards are close to a meter. But most phones have an app for that! It's not rocket science! 10 meters=11 yards "close" but not exact

And at 2:20:00 you are speaking about disobeying orders. You forgot to mention that sometimes an Admiral might disobey an order & get killed in the process. And then at Guadal Canal campaign we had Admirals trying to obey orders & getting killed horribly for their trouble.
