Excellent video Drach and shows just how insanely dangerous explosives are, especially in large numbers. It shows that much of the blame thrown at Beatty for the BC's losses at Jutland is very, very unfairly placed when more and more details are understood. Maybe Beatty suffers from bad publicity (people looking for a scapegoat) and extreme jealousy of people who outlived him but did not advance up the ranks as fast. It's easy to blame someone who can't defend themself to cover up your own mistakes.

@afrikacorpse Those are some excellent points. The Captain is THE deciding voice on his own ship and if someone orders him to violate regulations in a way which endangers the ship, he would damn well demand them in writing. Also something to consider is that while Beatty is an Admiral, HMS Lion is Chatfields ship, so IF the blast doors were removed as history theorizes he would have had to agree. Since Drach has pointed out that Chatfield was a proponent of higher rates of fire (which is why the 14ince gun was pushed in the 2nd London naval treaty) could the removal of the doors (if they were) been his idea?
