  1. US don't see Australia in need of domestic car manufacturer. Look at Korea where US havs long patronaged them. Compare to Australia ,Korea is far more smaller with on par population amount. But Korean car cans survive eventhough they faced many crisis until they are left only one company( but fake to have many brands). Only true answer is US govt has long support Korea industries both technology and money also US opening market to their products. So the small Korea still has car industry sustainable throughout the time while Australia went to the end.
