Tupolev denied to put a proposal in competition because he saw no possibility of meeting the airforce requirement. So Myasishchev won the bid alone. And the result was finally as Tupolev had expected. The M50 cannot reach the US coast. Myasishchev was pulled out of his design bureau and became a director of Russia's Aero-hydrodynamic research, TasGi. Years later , Russia succeeded in building R7 rocket that made them the 1st ballistic missile in the world. So the Russian intercontinental bombers were canceled until Tu-160 come later.
