  1. Matheus Falango The training men received should have been more than adequate to not get bit by the bolt. The forward motion of the bolt handle can be used to keep you safe. Dennis Hakkie Except we didn't get the M14 "a few years after the war", unless you mean Korea. Which is odd because detatchable magazine Garands were heavily experimented with during the war. The thing is that magazines require good manufacturing in a way clips don't. The Garand clip has advantages too, like being able to top off a clip inside the rifle, and not having to worry about retaining magazines like you would with any other detachable magazines. I'd highly recommend Bloke on the Range's videos on the M1. They are quite enjoyable and informative.
