I think depopulation isn't really a bad thing because in the past there were less people, but what that just means is Japan will not be as rich or influential as it was in the 20th century. Less rich doesn't mean death of a country it just means less influential. Developed nations will have less influence and developing nations will be on the rise and have more influence.
