theknob1 I'm sorry buddy, but I think you've reached the point where you're willing to defend your opinion no matter how hard you will have to rummage for an argument. People do not feel bad if they can't get to play around with guns like they want to. It's more of a law on safety, about just as much as how bombs are illegal. Because who says bombs can't be fun to play with? Who says that grenades can't save lives? It's more a political question of where do you draw the line.

theknob1 It really depends on what you consider socialist and what not. You may consider Britain a socialist state, but in that case then all of Europe is socialist too, and maybe Canada is too? Think of it as an endless line going each direction. One side gets gradually more socialist and the other gradually capitalist, then you try to decide where on this endless line "Right here is socialism". That is impossible. You can however say that one country is more or less capitalist or socialist oriented than another. And I think finding the right balance is key to both welfare and freedom of your own economy.
2
theknob1 So where along those line is feudalistic capitalism? I don't think you've realized it about the times where we had Kings and Queens, Barons, Dukes and Lords with their peasants, each stuck in their own social class. That is the extremes of each side. Feudalism and Communism. I'd really prefer none of those two options, and rather look for a middle-solution of equal opportunity with proper motivation.

PSadvance The difference is, you get to choose between two threats, then ask yourself which threat is more deadly. Gun control is a better option in countries where customs and law enforcement isn't from the inside and out. You have almost no gun violence in Europe compared to America, and even if you compare more strict European countries to the more lax, then I can tell you for a fact that the more strict gun controls, the less violent and organized crime is existent.
1
Fenrirthewolf That's what you get if you're in a country with rampant organized crime and corruption. Then laws and regulation is useless. Gun control works when you have a country where the military and policemen abide the laws of the country and do not make their own set of rules or set themselves be bribed.

Soff1859 Difference about Swizerland and America.. Far less cultural and religious unrest, absence of corrupt enforcement, absence of corporate gun associations, government controlled weaponry with registered ownership, no exceptions. I don't think you will want that anyways.
1
Soff1859 You may want to look into that first. Weapons in swizerland has control and registration, more so than in America. It's not like Somalia.
1
Soff1859 You also have laws on gun cabinets where as in America you can keep your regular guns in any end table or inside your pillows and what not.

BVargas78 Most gun owners in America are wealthy people, so I'm not so sure that your arguments hold water.
1
BVargas78 It's not poverty. It's unfair treatment and corruption that moves peoples frustration to violence. There are plenty of impoverished people in south eastern Europe, but they do not feel the need to carry heavy weaponry and lead large robberies. Those who do that are part of organized crime denominated from old Russian mafia of the Soviet Union, who then launder stolen money so that they can benefit from it at the expense of others. It's not a job for poor people, and the poor hardly ever benefit from it. The money always goes to the top.

Ender Wiggin Then how do they get in Chicago? What are bordering the country? Or does it arrive by airplane? I doubt it. It then has to come from either Canada or other American states.
1
theknob1 No I'm not even kidding.. I've seen crazy people from the south in America advocating for the use of grenades in self defense. Now who do you think are stumped?
1
***** My point exactly.
1
***** The thing is though, there are already so much heroin in circulation that trying to implement a 'ban' would be meaningless anyway... See where this is going? It's not really holding water.
1
***** Sure, lets legalize everything anyways.
