  4.  @inbetweennames4438  Still, it's a question of how the tax burden should be distributed. Personally, I prefer that a higher percentage of the tax (whatever it has to be) be on property, rather than on income (or on capital gains). The best tax on anything is zero; but to the extent that there has to be a tax, I don't want it to be on income or capital gains.

  6.  @inbetweennames4438  The issue was NEVER about whether property taxes are "good" or "bad". And to be clear, they are BAD. The issue is about THE LESSER OF TWO EVILS: (a) taxes on income & capital gains, or (b) taxes on property. For you, the lesser evil is taxes on income and cap gains; for me the lesser evil is property taxes.

  7.  @inbetweennames4438  OK fine; still, I'd rather be "punished" for owning a house than to be "punished" for earning money. (Of course, as you say, "the devil's in the details"). Fortunately for you, there are many countries around the world that impose no tax (or virtually no tax) on real estate; there are many more such countries than there are countries that refrain from imposing tax on income or capital gains.
