  1. He was a good politician. And by that I mean, he was good at papering over things, getting you to believe everything is fine, and not actually fixing problems. Clearly the new Mayor just needs media to step in and cover for her better.

  4.  @fronzotto  [How does this even make any sense? Laws are enforced municipally and criminal offenses though federal are actually prosecuted at a provincial level.] This is how it makes sense. There is an approved culture when it comes to prosecuting and dealing with criminals. Appointees are top down and funding is often tied to it. Prosecutors that don't prosecute, judges that allow parole for violent offenders - how do you think that all happens? Just because of city council?

  5.  @fronzotto  [My initial comment was really wondering if it's just "Trudeau's problem"] It's definitely not just Trudeau, he has plenty of willing helpers. Like, for example, Ford, who despite being a Conservative has basically run his government in the same way Trudeau has on many issues.

  7. The funny thing is, if a "refugee" kills a Canadian citizen it's all just a misunderstanding and the media will either ignore it or justify it. If a Canadian citizen kills a "refugee", even in self-defense, their face will be all over the media for their "hate crime".

  9.  @sandygeorge9741  He's probably not WEF. Having said that, will he oppose the majority of the main policies that Trudeau is pursuing? Will he, for example, end Canada's participation the Ukraine-Russia war? No. He'll do what they always do. They'll make a few minor tweeks like cutting the planned taxes, but they won't stop the overall government spending. They'll put it on the credit card, kick it down the road, then blame the Liberals for everything. They do this every time.

  10. It helps to not release them when you know they're going to commit violence and you've already arrested them once. The knifing on the TTC is a good example. That guy was on probation for only a few weeks.

  11.  @lenboy2  As you pointed out, she hasn't taken over the job officially yet, so that's the great media launch they can use. She enters office and suddenly in (10 days, 12 days, 30 days, etc.) things are much better. Thanks media!

  13. You might be charged with mischief, and conspiracy to commit mischief. That's what the Trucker Convoy leaders were charged with, and they were treated like mass murderers - no parole, no bail, publication ban.

  14. They need people to tune in for their 5 minutes of hate. A climate of fear also allows them to propose policies people would normally say no to. For example, more surveillance to "ensure security and safety".
