  1. Sad. We have been privileged to live in a well-managed country through this pandemic. If this was US, UK France, Germany, Italy, Spain.... The average case rate would have been about 10% and the death rate about 2.5% of those. That would have been around 10,000 dead New Zealanders. We have nothing to whinge about.

  2.  @watgaanhieraan  i lost my customers and income for approx 7 months, as did many business operators. but as a grown up i understood why and put up with it. So no... Not the soft ride you imply.

For the pandemic period from beginning 2020 to now, WHO stats for US, UK, Germany, Italy, France, Spain all pretty much around 10% identified case rate and 2 - 2.5% death rate for those identified as having it. That's 0.2 - 0.25% death rate in the population. x 5m = 10,000 - 12,500 deaths.
