So the guy was a very nice kid, so was did a very nice kid end up in jail? Why didn't he end up being a judge instead? I have seen bad apples from my elementary school and they didn't end up in jail, even when they are still not the nicest people. It seems like more than an individuals character what is causing this outcome is the hand that you're dealt. I myself am not as nice as I once was, not because I ever wanted or felt good being mean, but instead because I learned some harsh lessons that rocked my once purest and most naive intentions. It saddens me so much to see these people, in addition to their personal suffering and their assigned punishment, be blamed for situations that they didn't at all want to be in. I hope that man is able to come out of this better than he went into it. But unfortunately the prison system isn't something that usually improves the incarcerated people.
